Sony over-the-air firmware updates RDR-HXD560

Hi.

Bought my Mum a Sony RDR-HXD560 about a month ago. Brand new, but a bargain as it’s such an old model now. Anyway, she’s having the problem discussed in this thread:

So she needs a firmware upgrade. There have been several over-the-air since the machine launch. Her software version is 1.01.03CE

Questions:
1. Do Sony broadcast updates for this model any longer? If not, why not?
2. If not, can I download and burn it to a DVD-R. I have Googled for this, believe me.

But it only shows over the air updates for this week and next, no history, no future updates. Imagine nVidia only broadcasting driver updates when they felt like it...

Firmware is 1.00.03CE not 1.01.03CE as previously stated.

According to that thread the above version of firmware should have fixed the problem...

True, thanks, but the problem still exists. I was hoping another update (there have been several) would fix it for her. Why on earth I can't download it from Sony's website and burn it to CD I do not know.

Interesting. I quote from an e-mail from Sony:

"following an error made by the broadcasters whereby a Sony firmware update that was broadcast became corrupted resulting in numerous problems, Sony is not sending firmware updates over the air...it would be necessary to have this performed by your nearest Sony authorised repair agents".
