NNTP Error when trying to access newsgroup

I'm using Ubuntu Linux and Mozilla Thunderbird, but when I select "Manage Newsgroup Subscriptions," I get the following error:



I used instructions from this guide to get the NNTP server and other information, but my permission is denied.

you do also have to subscibe to VM for internet access to have access to the newsgroups.

I am on a Virgin Media connection.

Also, turns out that it was news.virginmedia.com, not news.cable.ntlworld.com. Problem solved.
