Re: O2 anyone??
It's re-badged Be Broadband, so yes plenty of people have tried it. If you live within a short distance of a Be enabled exchange they should probably be your first choice. Just bear in mind that you need a BT land line to use the service, so add another £11. Also to get their ultimate service for £15 you need an o2 contract mobile, if you don't have one you're better off going straight to Be.

Re: O2 anyone??
Its just BT to be honest - Most people that say "BT Line Required" are just BT WHolesalers.
People like:
* Tiscali
* Pipex
* Orange
* 02
The list could go on and on and on!

O2 aren't just "BT Whosalers" - They have their own kit (well...BE* Kit) in the exchange so thats why then can provide faster speeds as they use ADSL2.
"BT Line Required" just means that you use the BT phone network up until the local BT exchange which is where the hand-off to O2/Be Happens.

Re: O2 anyone??
Yeah even if they have their own kit - they are still in the BT centre / using the BT network. They may as well call them Cellnet again!

Re: O2 anyone??
Er, O2 is owned by Telefonica, the Spanish equivalent of BT. These days BT's mobile customers get to use the Vodafone network, o2 has its own network (which was the one sold off by BT).
Think this all happened quite some time ago now...do try and keep up

O2 bought out the Be network & use ADSL 2+. It's LLU so not using BT wholesale. Support is freephone & Uk based. Be had a good reputation I believe.

Orange & Pipex (now acquired by Tiscali) use LLU which means they have their own DSLU's on the BT site. Tiscali are also migrating all their BT wholesale provided customers to LLU. The only part BT play in LLU is with the copper line distribution itself which is maintained by their Openreach division.

Re: O2 anyone??
O2 have owned Be* for a while now so when orange started offering broadband to their cmr's O2 were planning their own solution using Be* which they own but lowered the package contents to up to 20mbs instead of up to 24mbs like Be*.

The o2 service is identical and is up to 24mb, they haven't lowered the package contents in any way. 20mb is simply the figure quoted in their marketing materiel, very few people will be able to sync at over 20mb anyway due to the usual constraints for DSL (line length and quality).
