Unhappy help with actiontec router

my actiontec router is working fine on main computer, but all of the laptops have been down for 3 days now. it says on the laptops that the speed is low, with only 1 Mbps speed.
Why is this happening? can I do anything about it?

Re: help with actiontec router

It could be interference. Are there any other wireless networks in the area (they might be hidden)? Try changing the wireless channel and you might get a better signal.

Re: help with actiontec router

theres only one connection in this house. don't know about surrounding houses, but one of the laptops upstairs seems to pick up another connection, tho the other two don't pick it up. How do I change channels? would this be on the laptops, or pc?

Re: help with actiontec router

The channel is controlled by the router, so you need to browse to the router's admin page and select the wireless settings. You will need to consult the manual for details of the admin page.
