Network Bridging query

ok i have a wireless network so i can get internet in the loft where my room is. I also have an xbox360 and instead of buying one of those £60 adapters i connected it to my pc using a crossover cable and bridged this connection with my wireless internet connection to get xbox live. This all worked well but ive noticed that my internet times out more and disconnects. My network status also says 'conneced with limited access' instead of just 'connected'. What does this mean? and is it responsible for my disconnects and timeouts? My internet is also running slower is this related? If i remove the wireless bridge it goes back to saying 'connected' with no limited access part.

Thanks to anyone who posts.

Re: Network Bridging query

It appears the "limited connection" message refers to the crossover cable connection to your xbox, your pc treats this as an ad-hoc network as it connected to the ethernet port. It is also running the wireless connection simultaneouosly, so data from your xbox is getting to your pc much faster than from your pc to your router. This could cause the slow down problem.

Having your xbox running online will slow down the connection for any other pc's on the network.

Thanks for the reply, a couple of things tho - when im using my xbox, i dont use the pc and neither does anyone else, after using the xbox i turn it off and remove the cable but my internet to my pc is still slow?! U have any idea why this is? My ISP (AOL) changes its IP's every month or so and since the IP change, the internet has been really slow and disconnects often - does my xbox connection have anything to do with this, perhaps interfering with the change in some way?!?

Re: Network Bridging query

The IP changing shouldn't affect the speed.
Have you tried calling AOL support?
