Re: hd fa cup
They sometimes do. The FA Cup Final was shown on BBC HD last year.

Re: hd fa cup
From an earlier post on my VM HD blog:
Just noticed this post from Loz over on the AV Forums as to why there's no FA Cup coverage in HD this weekend on the Beeb
from BBC Sports
I have just got clarification on this. The reason is that we didn't get
permission to run the BBC HD channel until towards the end of the year.
In those circumstances, we weren't able to commit any spend to HD with
the exception (for various technical and logistical reasons) of the
Olympics. So the early rounds of the FA Cup in 2008 were never planned
for HD coverage, but the semi-final and final are scheduled for HD.

Re: hd fa cup
If your talking HD, then I think that Match of the Day is a must for BBC HD.

When I were a lad, MoTD showed just a couple of games' highlights. These days they show every game, with the longest coverage lasting around ten minutes. That's going to be expensive to install all the HD cameras for all those games. If they moved to a main game in HD (say, 45 minutes coverage) with shorter highlights of the others it might work out, but I don't think the deal with the Premiership allows for that and they may end up with 45 minutes of a real turkey of a game.
I don't think we'll see MoTD on Saturday nights in HD for some time, just the England home games and FA Cup semis and final for now.
btw, Hansen's dandruff looks awful in HD!

But not England's game on Feb 6 - not appearing as on BBC HD on the Radio Times' listings that evening.
