"Important" Xbox360 news
Quote:
Microsoft overlord Bill Gates is set to make an "important announcement" regarding the Xbox 360 at next week's CES show in Las Vegas, reports The Seattle Times.
The paper doesn't say exactly what Gates' revelation will regard at the electronic show, but it does go on to speculate....

Re: "Important" Xbox360 news
V0id, Neons is a completely seperate news item, so there was no need for them to link to that page.

We contacted Microsoft UK anyway, who gave us a very expected "no comment". We'll be at CES next week to let you know if it's a load of old porkies.

What, the same person that stated all was not needed in the PS3?
I wonder how many of these people will now go out and buy one if it does come out.

Give it a rest, If we took this point up you would start to get very angry and start name-calling again. If you do not like criticism of the PS3 don't post comments likely to invoke it or negative comments about other consoles/members.
Moving on...
I personally hope it's something unexpected but very cool. The idea of it being 'important' suggests it more than simply another version of the console of which they updated recently. Not likely to be a major game as it's Bill Gates introducing it. I suspect a new service or function.

I am hoping for more news on Microsoft Home Server, I would like to hear them show a commitment to further and frequent development. The potential for it excites me! I envision storing all my media on there and then having access to it from any device and computer in the home.
Already have this for videos in my current house, all stored on one computer, but this allows better management, a server would be dedicated so most investment would be made in additional hard-drives, would also allow a raid set up to secure the media better, an obvious problem with trying to move all your media onto a digital format.

Re: "Important" Xbox360 news
I am not sure it will simply be a new version of the console but a new service or changes to existing services/features.
Here we go again with the childish comments from shawty.
Neon may have said it all wasn't needed on the PS3 but if Microsoft did provide everything in on console then thats a good thing as they still provide consoles with different features ie the Arcade, Pro or Elite then if there was a full on Ultimate then all the better. Sony gives you one choice and that all! Doesn't mean any of us would get one.

That was actually the point during that 'debate', that if you wanted HD-DVD you could go out and get the add on. Now (if it even comes) they could go get the uber-premium elite or what ever they are going to call it. The option to get a 360 without one will still be there.
