Problem copying to SCART while in HD Mode

Hi there.

I have a problem trying to archive from V+ to a SCART-connected external HDD while the V+ is setup for HDMI.

I have read the posts explaining that the V+ SCART is disabled when HDMI is enabled, but that the "Copy To" function should still be active over SCART.

However, it doesnt seem to work for me - sound comes across but no picture.

I thought perhaps that I had a dodgy cable, but if I switch back from HDMI to SCART then the copy function works fine.

I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Is what you are trying to copy HDCP encrypted? IE a HD Channel/Movie or something

Check you are using the correct SCART socket on the V+. It should be the bottom one.

Re: Problem copying to SCART while in HD Mode

In answer to the two responses so far:

1) I am definitely using the correct ("VCR") SCART
2) Pretty sure I am not trying to access copy-protected content. I got the same trying to copy some bog-standard stuff as a test from BBC1.

Just by switching back to SCART (from HDMI) makes it all work ok. Which makes me think that it cant be the cable or the content.

Confused.

Re: Problem copying to SCART while in HD Mode

Mine also copies over fine while connected via HDMI.

One thing I have noticed with the 'Copy to VCR/DVD' feature is that if I go back to watching TV while it copies, the sound often drops out around half-way through, and I get the picture from the recorded programme, but the sound from the current 'live' show.

However, if I leave the V+ on the 'copying' screen, the sound drop-out never happens!

Re: Problem copying to SCART while in HD Mode

davebp - not sure if you are still having problems, but I have been trying to archive via the VCR scart port and found problems caused by the cables. I was using a scart to AV converter, and found two different adaptors gave different results. I also found that the scart adaptor with an S-Video port gave different results (only black and white).

I am using HDMI as main output, and haven't tried/needed to change the settings whilst archiving - I always get output on the Scart port. Have you tried archiving to a VCR or DVD writer instead of the HDD?

Re: Problem copying to SCART while in HD Mode

Thanks for the replies. I swapped around cables and - archiving while in HDMI mode now works fine! Still a little mystified as the "old" cable worked fine when in SCART mode, but who cares...

By the way, I've also experienced the "dropout" to live TV audio when copying.
