Next generation USB on the way USB 3
The next generation standard, USB 3.0 or SuperSpeed USB, is expected to support transfer rates of 4.8GB per second

Re: Next generation USB on the way USB 3
I find wireless USB might have more practical use...
Actually on second though maybe not I already have hundreds of things to change/charge batteries in as it is.

They should focus more on making USB more reliable. I have a lot of problems when it comes to delayed writing errors to external HDs...

Sure that's not just a cheap external caddy
I had one that used to do that, but it was a very cheap and nasty caddy.

Re: Next generation USB on the way USB 3
1 big bottleneck, IMO it just plain stupid to impliment these types of speed to us end users when we have nothing that would allow that type of through put.
5-10 years down the line when our HDD's can cope yes, maybe. Unless we all decided to go solid state by the time its released to the general public.

Re: Next generation USB on the way USB 3
Potentially good news for us musicians/project studio recording enthusiasts if this provides a cheaper alternative to Firewire for connecting (low latency) external audio interfaces.

"yet"...
it will take them some time to sort anything out its not as if you can buy a usb 3 controller today. So in a few years time perhaps someone will make something that wants to shift data that fast and be very energy efficient..
or perhaps u should write to intel and tell them they are wasting time developing new toys.
