how do i get limewire to connect on my laptop?

hello my problem is getting limewire to connect on my laptop. it was connected straight into the back of my pc through ethernet cable and it wouldnt connect but i have recently set up a wireless network and still can't seem to get round the problem. is this where ad-hocks come into play? if this is already addressed somewhere else could you send me in the right direction n deleate this please?
