What Digital PCI TV Tuner Should I Buy?

I'd like to buy a PCI tv tuner card with Freeview to put into my pc. I need to be able to record programmes to the hard disk AND then burn them to DVD disks so they can be watched on my standalone dvd player (by the tv downstairs). Is there any software that comes with a tuner card to enable you to do simple editting of the footage (for example removing adverts) or do I need to use a dedicated video editting program to achieve this?

I have an external aerial on the roof that picks up a good signal and the Humax Freeview box I have downstairs is quite happy with the signal. I'd be plugging a normal aerial lead from the wall socket to the tv tuner card.

Can anyone recommend any particular tuner cards that meet my needs?

Thanks in anticipation.

Mark

Thanks. What program would you then use to transfer the footage from the hard disk to a dvd?

I would just use Nero personally but there are many programs you could use.

Me too - picture quality is great.

The software isn't brilliant but it works. And you can get alternatives anyway.

Only downside is that you can only record one channel at a time; you can't download an entire multiplex like you can with some cards.

For making DVDs I use Womble MPEG Wizard though I'm sure you can get free alternatives.

I got one of these too I like it and it does what I want.
I got it from my local PC World cost £40, what I did was order it on there website as it was cheaper and pick the option to pick it up at my local store

Re: What Digital PCI TV Tuner Should I Buy?

Many thanks for your advice. I will look into this further.

I've read several comments now from people saying the software with Hauppauge cards isn't very good. What other software could I use with the card instead?
