Printer cannot communicate with computer
Yes you have guessed, it is a L*****k all-in-one printer model No.X1270.
My OS is Vista Home Premium. I have downloaded the necessary driver, and uninstalled and reinstalled (with and without CD) till I am blue in the face. I fear for the health of my computer. Strange thing is, it will scan and send emails etc, but just wont print. Can someone talk me through how to get it working properly? When I phoned L*****k they wanted £15 for technical support as the printer is out of warranty.

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Did you install the drivers before or after you connected the device to the PC? Also is it a USB2 device and are you plugged into a USB2 port?

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
try a different usb port? go into control panel and with the printer switched on go into device manager and see if there are any uninstalled devices showing there. If not goto add new hardware if this does not find it go into printers and see if it is installed just not set as default

Hi Zing, it shows up in Device Manager, says the device is working properly, does not show up in add new hardware, also shows up in printers, I have tried different USB ports.

It is not a new printer, but it has hardly been used, the cartridges are OK. I also have another L*****k photo printer connected and so far that works OK, but I would like to get this one to work as it's 'like new'. Any reasonable suggestions gratefully accepted. If anyone would like to mull over what I can try, I will get back to it later (going out now). Many thanks!!!

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Why is the printer name showing as L*****k ?
---------- Post added at 11:45 ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 ----------
JFYI, it could simply be that the printers USB port has packed up - I had that happen to me on a Xerox printer a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately it also had a network port so I now use that.

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
In printers right click and select properties and then have a look for a maintenance or similar and see what it says perhaps print a test page or nozzle check to see if the printer works that way. Was it set default or has office took over (xps doc)
I did notice

Re: Printer cannot communicate with computer
Yes Zing I have tried everything you said, I am pretty sure it is not busted. It looks as though it is going to print, (that little square momentarily pops up) and then disappears and leave the notice saying printer cannot communicate with the computer, it then proceeds with a list of things to check i e the cables etc. I have tried c:\drivers\printer\1200, then 'set up', but when it comes to the bit about the driver, it can't find the driver in the destination I downloaded it to, that is My Downloads or Desktop wherever ( I have tried downloading to different destinations). If all that makes sense?
