				Help with Linksys WRT54GS v5.1

			Hello,
Iv recently upgraded my firmware to DD-WRT v23sp1. For some reason i am not capable of recieving a speed of more than 5mb(i have the XL 20mb package), i have tried changing channels and etc but to no avail. Anyone with experience on DD-WRT care to help?

 Thanks
 Kenny

Can you get over 5Mb if you connect direct to the modem by removing to router?

Yes, i recieve around 18-20mb when connected directly via ethernet. So its a problem with my router im guessing.

Are you downloading from a site or are you doing peer 2 peer file sharing via something like emule?

May be worth looking a solution 1 on this page. I had a similar problem when i started using the DD-WRT firmware however my problem was only on P2P and was a slowdown rather than instantly slowhttp://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Router_Slowdown |

I recommend you check your PC TCP/IP settings especially RWIN using http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php
when connected by to modem or router by wired/wireless
before blaming the router/firmware - although the speed you quote could mean the link between the router and modem is only 10Mb/s half duplex - it should be 100Mb/s and not an issue!
