New iPods...

Guess everyone's seen the TV Ad for the new nano by now...

What it doesn't tell you is that Apple have made sure they won't work with any other media player than iTunes.

Quote:
This affects Linux users - there's no iTunes for Linux, so popular Linux iPod management tools like gtkpod and Rhythmbox will not work with the new range of iPods.

Windows users who just plain don't like iTunes and perfer an alternative like Winamp, Ephpod or many of the other iPod management applications out there.

Re: New iPods...

I was thinking about one of the new ones or maybe the 160gig one, but I only use Anapod Explorer, if I can't use that then I might have to reconsider. Cheers for the heads up.

Just checked Red Chair's site

Anapod supports all iPod models available in the market.
All storage capacities (MB/GB) are supported.
Compatible with all iPod firmware versions.
Hmmm.

Re: New iPods...

It's never officially worked on another other than iTunes, all thats happened is that Apple changed the iPod OS and broke everything. I think that it has been cracked now though so it should work soon.

The original link has just been updated this minute to say it's been cracked...

Instructions for linux users on how to fix their iTunesDB files are here. Windows users are going to have to wait a little while. (For interested programmers, the code to generate the hash is here.)
