Web Shop creation software?

Has anyone here had any experience of setting up any of the many freebie Web Shop software packages? I need to set one up for a friend on their web space (currently using I-Websolutions hosting). Its only going to be a simple one for the moment and there won't be a great number of items. One criteria is that it must intergrate reasonably well with PayPal.
Any advice on packages and any hints/tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Web Shop creation software?

I used OScommerce for a bit of a play once - easy to set up, easy to customise, and integrates with paypal - I had a (very) basic test shop up and running in about 6 hours

Re: Web Shop creation software?

Thanks indeed. I'm just having a look at that now. Seems pretty good and easy to use (once I've got through the server installation procedure). I browsed some of the shops using OS-Commerce and they look very neat (although some are quite tatty too - no pain no gain I suppose).

One of the other criteria was that it has to allow for various options for a product (sort of like colours selections and personalisation etc) which, judging by some of the shops I've looked at so far, it seems to be able to do well.

Re: Web Shop creation software?

As you're with I-Web I'm sure there is one (or a couple) of shop systems built into the cPanel.

Can't check at the moment as I'm at work.
