Virgin Broadband with Linksys wpc54g

Hi,

Yesterday i had virgin broadband installed to my house and tried setting up the wireless network. I succeded in installing the modem on my laptop and then through the router (linksys Wpc54g) to work on my laptop. when i tried to connect my pc to the network i connected to the router but no internet connection was being received at my pc but was still working on my laptop. any advice would be appreciated. the pc is connected through a wireless usb adaptor and does not have an ethernet socket so unable to try by connecting a wire from the router or direct from the modem.

Thank you

Dave

SORRY MODEL NUMBER IS WKPC54G

Have you installed the software for the wireless usb adaptor on your computer? If not install and re-start computer.

If working you will need to read the instructions on how to secure your wireless network, use wpa not wep.

If you don't do this your network will be open to all around you.

Try disabling the firewall you have. The router has a hard firewall so don't worry. If this sorts the problem you will need to enable the adapter in your firewall softwar.

If the USB adapter is also made by Linksys give them a phone call on the free phone number and they will be able to talk you through setting it up. If the adapter is not a Linksys still give them a try.

When you find the problem please post back with info as it may just help some other person with the same problem.
