pricey HD 2900 XT spotted
Ouch ouch ouch....
expensive bugger it is still...thought that it was going to compete with the Nvidia cards but at nearing 290 I dont see that happening.

Re: pricey HD 2900 XT spotted
scan had them at £210+vat the other day which is quite abit cheaper than nvidia cards. That price puts it inbetween the 8800 320 and 640meg gts

Am I missing something here? Why would you want a lower resolution than a standard graphics card can push out over a DVI->HDMI adaptor?

Re: pricey HD 2900 XT spotted
Saw an 8800ultra when I bought my bearlake board the other day it was in a pile on the floor along with the bearlakes.
Price a snip at £500inc.
EDIT HOLY COW some people have money ! There was a whole pile of them now they've only got 1 left !

Re: pricey HD 2900 XT spotted
At that price you could get HD2900XT crossfire (you just need to cards and the connector now) which would outperform any single card. Though 8800Ultra SLI would just be crazy!

Read all about it here :
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2988&p=1
It does look nice in crossfire mode which I'd be interested in as apparently one of the boards I bought recently is X-fire.
Might get one and pair it under further price cuts - MAYBE

Just read some reviews of the 8800ultra not that great. Speeds that a GTX could get to with a decent overclock.
Yeh you're right HD2900XT in X-fire does look nice.

Just get some of your old PSUs together 2 or 3 and bridge them. Job done.

Got my plasma this week whoo hooo and can now start using the structured cabling that I installed years back.
Take a look at VGA / DVI extension over cat5. My PCs are upstairs
