Virgin Media, Acceptable use policy or poor service?

Don't really have much to say about it, i just dont understand how i could have an account with ntl for 5+ years and not have a single speed problem and now virgin media take over and i get this thrust at me as an acceptable service. sorry, just want to vent

so basically i've had my service cut in half because i used it at full speed for less than an hour and i'll be lucky if it returns before early tomorrow morning.

That'll be the much discussed traffic shaping, if you run a search on the forums you'll find numerous posts about it.

Quick sum-up, if you download more than Xmb in Xmin (Dont know the exact values) then your speed gets halved, but should be restored to normal after midnight (off-peak).

...except right now, there are problems all across the board with speed.
Some speculate this is because of the 20mb upgrade, which is hope, but I am not sure.

Naa, if you actually look at his screenshot, it cuts down to an exact and constant rate, that's a cap. If it was due to a fault you'd expect to see a more erratic transfer rate.
