Webstar DPX100 suitable for 10/20mb ?

Greetings all, new here but I'm wondering about my current modem, I had it given as part of the package way back when i had the initial 1mb Blueyonder installed, now that we've been upgraded over time all the way to 10mb.

I've recieved my letter from VM saying about the new upgrade from 10mb to 20mb on the 1st of May, and that a modem upgrade may be required.

Could someone here tell me if my current modem is suitable?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hijack but i thought it'd be better to add onto this thread, I have a generic ntl:200 grey box thing that i have had for years. The model number on the back is 08004EU, i upgraded to 10mb today and am still waiting for it to upgrade. Is it even capable of 10mb let alone 20mb??

Re: Webstar DPX100 suitable for 10/20mb ?

Hi,

I'd like to know this also as I have the Webstart DPX100 and recently upgraded to 10mb but it has been fairly slow.
I can just get 950kb/sec if connected to a UK University FTP to download linux with a download manager for example, but if I run any kind of speed test it shows as 480kb/sec and downloading from most websites seems to be around 300kb/sec. Is this normal of 10mb and as the OP said, will the modem be able to handle 20mb?

Thanks in advance.

I dont understand this, your modem is capable of 10mb the FTP proves it but the speed tests prove otherwise. It could be that the websites arnt providing 950k/s?

try zdnet's speedtest or speedtest.net i still reckon you should get higher than 950kb/s on downloads aswell

Re: Webstar DPX100 suitable for 10/20mb ?

The speeds seem a little better today, although still not what I would expect from 10mb, unless it is common for it to not reach maximum speeds?

These are my results from speedtest..

London

Roubaix (France)

Paris

Downloading from UK FTP (probably the fastest I've seen my connection go so far)

Downloading a HD Trailer from Apple which I imagine is supposed to be faster?
