Windows Anytime Upgrade

Lets say i was not using an genuine copy of Windows but then wished to go genuine would it be possible to use Windows Anytime Upgrade Key or would i have to buy the full version, upgrade key is cheaper.

Iirc Windows anytime upgrade is for upgrading to a higher version of windows. so if you have home premium you can use it to get pro or ultimate.

You could try buying a upgrade key and changing the product key in control panel>system, can't guarentee it will work though.

It can happen as a genuine mistake. One of my elderly clients bought a pc off ebay as it was cheap and he's on a pension.
He called me up when the WGA started nagging. He had no clue what was wrong or even that there was such a thing as non-genuine windows. I think he imagined it was just a part of the pc, like ram or harddisk.
