Cancelling Sky Sports package

I'm having V+ installed on 27th April with Sky Sports as part of my package.
I'm cancelling my general Sky subscription with a month's notice around the 12th April (as I need my susbcription for PremPlus to be active until the end of the season - that's another thread!).
As I have had sports with Sky for ever, can I just say I don't want it anymore without a notice period?
I have done this with movies before, as long as you keep it for a month, I'm assuming sports will be the same?
There being no point in having it with two companies for the crossover period.
