Edimax BR-6104K setup problem

Hi guys i have just bought this router but when i try to set it up i just keep getting page cannot be displayed on the web interface. I have tried lowering all security settings to low and also disabled my bitdefender firewall just in case that was somehow interfering with it but no joy.

Any help would be appreciated and also is there a no brainer site or something to explain what all the features do and how they can be used please remember your dealing with a complete networking newb .

I recently bought the edimax 6204wg router and i had the same problem, i found out that the router was assigning the wrong IPs because the MAC address was not cloned onto the router. If you clone the MAC address it may work.
Also make sure that the modem is plugged into the WAN port and on the connection settings within windows XP TCP/IP is set to obtain automatically.

Re: Edimax BR-6104K setup problem

Yeah i noticed when i set up on general setup i think it is that the mac address was wrong so corrected that. Still not able to tell it that it wants cable modem as quick setup is completely unreachable. Cables are all plugged in where they should be and all settings in windows are on automatic i can get through to the router just cannot access quick setup. Thanks for the quick reply .

Re: Edimax BR-6104K setup problem

I have the BR-6216Mg model, and have had no problems with it.
However, I have to admit that I could not get into the quick setup when I first installed it. I think this is mainly due to the MAC for the router not being added onto the broadband account.

If you connect all the cables up, power off the router and modem for about a minute, turn modem on, wait for all lights to settle down and then power the router on. If the internet does not work at this point, go to http://autoreg.autoregister.net which will run you through the setup wizard. You need your serial number and account username/password to do this. Once done, you should find it work OK but if not, reboot the modem and router again in the order above.

Hope that helps, it worked for me with my Edimax anyway

edit: Edimax routers seem to support Dynamic IP addressing over the WAN port by default, so should be set up correctly for the cable modem automatically.
