Smile Please fill me with some confidence

i am a soldier returning from 5 years in Germany and have been with Sky + the whole time i have been out here. in my prep for my return i have been sorting out my internet/TV etc etc.

when i typed in www.ntl.co.uk up came Virgin and WOW, i was taken and imediatly signed up for the VIP package, at that price its fantastic.

then i found this site........i understand that this rebrand will not solve things over night and i hope that RB gives Sky a good kicking over this whole Sky one thingy, bu i can live without it in the meantime.

So what am i getting at, i understand that on here you mainly hear about the "broken/bad" things........i just wanted to hear from some people that are happy with what they are getting and paying for.

i am more than willing to give VM a chance, and would love to see sky get boot between the legs!!

If you are back in Aldershot or Sandhurst, then NTL has been rock solid for umpteen years. It has been down a couple of times in the last 5-6 years, once when they dug up a cable in Guildford etc....

Sapper

I have had rock solid 4mb BB and telephony (in Leeds) for years. On the Cable TV side, occasionally the programme guide (the little two line one) is blank - that's been the extent of my problems, and I am a happy customer.

It depends what you want the BB for - most of the complaints about it (not all, as some people are having speed problems not related to "traffic shaping") are because of "traffic shaping"; it is stopping people downloading stuff constantly from the net (software/tv programmes/films).

Hope this helps (and welcome back from BAOR, if it is still called that).

I have had ntl since cabletel days (in Luton) and I have barely had to complain. In fact I've only ever whinged when our nearby green box has been all but demolished - amazingly service is still fine though! *touch wood* I'm sure you will find everything hunkydory, there is enough variety of channels and if not there's a lot to pick from on the on demand stuff, or films. I would love to be at a faster speed for broadband, but 2mb is quite adequate for shopping and chatting on here! best wishes.

Re: Please fill me with some confidence

I've been with Cable for around 6 years now.

Broadband has only gone down once.

Phone has only gone down once.

TV service has greatly improved and has maybe gone down 2 times (due to faulty boxes). V+ totally changes the way you watch telly and I've only had 1 dodgy recording since before Xmas (and I record around 17 shows per week).

VOD library just keeping on growing (around 2,600 hours on content available) and is due to contain around 6,000 hours of content later this year - most of it is free to TV Size : XL customers like myself.

Re: Please fill me with some confidence

6 years ago when I signed up CS was awful - and I mean the horror stories lately is NOTHING compared to then. But I have rarely had a problem with service. The few I have have attempted to be addressed in a timely manner. Once was a faulty cable under my front paving. They don't know if it was caused by relaying the paving (the pavers were extremely careful with it) or if itw as just age, but they wrote it off as a faulty cable and didn't charge me for any of the work involved (which was a lot). They had to put a new point in around the corner and bring it to the house (as I wasn't having them dig up the new paving). It was a couple of weeks to sort, so in the meantime I had intermittent channels and broadband, but they did their best to address it as quickly as possible (and even moved the dates forward by a few days - getting it sorted almost a week before they had estimated).

In comparison to other companies and other products I'd say that service (phone, TV and BB) has been extremely good for the majority of the time I've been with them and customer service has only improved (for the most part - that's not to say every person or every day is perfect).

I've recently upgraded the package I have - CS saw my usage and made excellent recommendations to me (when I called to make a small enquiry). Install went well, the few faults were sorted quickly by both the British and Indian call centres. Longest wait on phone - once for 20 minutes. Most waits were maximum 5 minutes at a time or less.
