Wireless router
Can you advise me a good router which :
- handle 10 Mbit speed
- handle 4 laptops connected wirelessly
- dont lose mbits of speed ( my previous router gave us 1 mbit for everybody - other 9 mbit speed vanished )
If you have many people using internet in your house and high speed which one do you use ??

I use the Linksys WRT54GUK (I think that's right).
There's three computers accessing it - no problems at all.
The coverage of the wireless is pretty good too, and I can even sit at the bottom of the garden with the laptop connected to the network.

I use same Linksys Router with hardwired PC and printer, plus 2 wireless laptops and my sons wireless PC, which he uses for online gaming. (also wirelessly serves PSP and Ipaq on occasions). It runs without any problems, is dead easy to setup, and if necessary lock down for a medium level user. Recommended ..

I have a slightly older version of this router, the WRT54GS V5.1, and aside from 1 minor niggle that was fixed by a firmware update (The DNS did not always give out a proper IP over wireless) it works a charm, And as for range, it easily covers the house and our smallish garden. And oddly enough on a very hot sunny day a friend can pick up the network signal a couple of streets away, tho not strong enough to connect to obviously. It's currently feeding 2 wired pc's and 2 wireless laptops with no issues.

I also use a WRT54GS, with WRT Firmware, runs 2 wire PC's, Xbox, Xbox 360 and a couple of laptops on 10Mb BB. Works fine. The different firmware makes the router work much better with p2p software.

The 'S' means Speedbooster which is supposedly meant to improve the speed of the wireless only when you have a Linksys wireless adaptor that has speedbooster.

I think that part it pretty much self explanatory.
But if not, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, there tends to different legislation between country's on the matter of any kind of transmitter, so UK would just be a bit tacked onto the end of the model number to specify the region it was made for.

Another vote for Linksys. Just swapped my old SMC router for a WRT54GS now I get just over 1000kb/s rather than the 725kb/s with the SMC. It looks prettier too.

One of the differences is that you get 13 channels in the 2.4GHz band as opposed to 11 channels in the USA.

If a buy wrt54g with speed booster - do i need to buy another adapter to have increase in speed?? ( i already have one in laptop )
