my 80yr old mother inlaw moved in august of 2006 and informed ntl of the move and was told that her 2 boxes would be collected before she moved, no one came to collect and in the process of the move they have been lost.ntl continued to take money from her account for a further 3 months, and now they are demanding £500 for the lost boxes we have tried to talk to ntl on her behalf because she does not have this sort of money but they insist that she has to pay up please does anyone have any advice

Re: ntl

Unfortunately she lost the boxes or the boxes are lost. NTL are quite right in expecting payment for the loss of their boxes. I'm sure a team member will happen across this thread at some point and offer assistance in getting resolution from Virgin Media

Re: ntl

I don't think two boxes are worth £500 and since they showed no interest in collecting them at the time they have no business asking that sort of money now (and to compond the matters, they continued to take money off her when informed to cancel).

Just for comparison - I had three boxes when I cancelled mine (for sky+) and they told me to keep the boxes as they didn't want them back - they are now stored in the garage, gathering dust.

Re: ntl

The main difference between sky and virgin, is that you own the sky boxes and you rent them from virgin. e.g if there is a problem with cable they come out and sky charge

Re: ntl

Maybe Paul can send your mum two of his boxes for her to give back to them

On a serious note this sort of treatment is not on we have had loads of posts saying that they don't pick the boxes up so what should they do with them and then they try to charge your poor mum £500! That is just not right!

p.s the box's are approx 5yrs old,ntl say the age does not matter because they refurbish them, and they have refused our efforts to purchase replacements which are selling on the internet for £30-£50
