Hi Everybody,
new member here and I've got a set of basic queries which I'd like confirmation of before I go have a chat to VirginMedia customer service.
We currently have an old Pace STB, which means we are limited to just a 1Mb BB service, (at least that's what NTL told us a few months ago, but I seem to get a £8.50 refund every month of the 2Mb price, so I'm happy).
But..if I go down the V+ route, then I understand that the BB connection isn't routed thro' this, so I still need to either keep the STB or 'upgrade' to a cable modem. And then unless I want to fork out £75 for the V+ installation then I need to pay £5/month to keep the STB to connect to a 2nd TV (that we don't have).
So...with a V+ service, I'll end up with 3 boxes..? Do they all connect to the single coax socket via a splitter or are they looped together in some way ? (this could be embarrassing when the engineer turns up as the coax box is sitting under the floor somewhere after I rerouted the cables to a sunken socket in the wall).
Have I got all this right or have I got the wrong end of a very messy stick ? What are the chances of customer service realising that I need the SACM to go with the V+ box ?
Final question - can I copy from the V+ drive onto my Sony HD/DVD recorder ?
Okay...I think that's enough idiot questions for now. Thanks for any help you can give.
Dave.
