V6 showing blue light.

Just installed my replacement V6 box, does anyone know what the blue light means as i've never seen it before.

I rang as i'd forgotten how to transfer settings from the old to the new box (I know this wasn't working for ages, but I remember SP posting a bit ago that this had now been fixed).

I've given up after 3 attempts as each call resulted in being put on hold for ages and then abruptly cut off! When I asked about the blue light I was told to switch it on & off again from the back and assured that this wouldn't interrupt the recordings currently being made!!!

Does anyone know the procedure please? The Weblink given in the instructions doesn't exist!

Re: V6 showing blue light.

A few people have reported a blue light in the past - just seems to be a different standby colour.
I've had it before but didn't cause any issues.

Thanks, it's good to know that it's nothing to worry about.

I was wondering if it meant there was a fault, as i've only just had to swap to a new box and lose all my recordings & settings.

I have heard of this before, but only with V360 boxes running firmware version 5.12. Never heard of it happening with a V6 TiVO.

You cannot transfer settings. The link in the user guide is over 10 years old, & the facility never worked reliably, so it was removed.

Worked fine for me when changing boxes. All series links etc copied over to a new box. Very handy.

Let's face it, they just couldn't be bothered to fix it. Too much like work...

Re: V6 showing blue light.

Well they didnt say it never worked, just that it was never reliable.
So it may have worked perfectly fine for some, and not worked for others.
