Are ntl trying to confuse its customers or what?

Wtf does M L and XL mean to a basic user? I had to visit Telewest site to find out exactly what was going on...

Hopefully when ntl relaunch as Virgin Media they don't really confuse people, my mum would have no idea what all this meant thats for sure

Also, why is there so much more info on the Telewest site compared to ntl if they're one company?

I dunno whether it's got potential to confuse or not. But at least by trying to brand without directly associating with the maximum speed, it might reduce some of the expectation that if you order 10meg, you get exactly 10 meg, not "up to".

True, but by looking at that ntl page, you don't even know ntl offer 10Mbps - it has nothing on the page of what speeds they offer

On the ntl page if you click on the L or M link it tells you the Mb you get.

But this is off topic - Why with TW on 10M I get 384kbps upload but on ntl 10M people are getting 512kbps upload?

I agree with you Zee. Instead of putting "Nearly 35 times faster than Dial up" for the M package, they should put 2Mb. It's annoying how you have to click find out more, just to find out what speed it is.

Why can't they just put the damn speeds on instead of using jargon? For a company that's supposed to specialise (is that really the right word for this company?) in communications they sure don't 'communicate' very clearly with their target audience!

If I want anything in M, L and XL i'll go to a clothes shop, or maybe learn Latin just in case I want anything in units of 1000, 50 or 40!!

Although NTL & Telewest merged they still both operated as seperate companies with lots of things going on in the background to unify both companies for the launch of Virgin Media.

NTL's & Telewest's websites will disappear within the next couple of weeks to be replaced by one brand new Virgin Media website for everyone

Yes, it is off topic, and as such, should be discussed in another thread.

Regarding the differences between NTL and Telewest. The answer is simple. When two companies merge, it takes a few days to peform the name change (changing legal documentation, changing letterheads) However,merging the various systems used by both companies takes considerably longer (hardware, software upgrades, departmental changes, merges, etc).

NTL and Telewest will both eventually offer exactly the same products/services, but it will take time.
