Cable TV -> PC/Mac

Is it possible to record cable programs on a PC or Mac? What would I need?

I know how to do it with freeview and satellite PCI Cards but I'm unsure about Cable ones.

Re: Cable TV -> PC/Mac

Get a TV tuner card and plug your Cable STB into it. The TV tuner card software should be able to record programs.

Re: Cable TV -> PC/Mac

I was thinking of going from coax -> PCI card not via the STB so I can control the channels on the PC/Mac.

I don't think you will be allowed to do that because you have to use Virgin Media equipment to use their services I'm afraid.

You can't. Although there are cable cards that can theoretically do this, Virgin do NOT allow any equipment they didn't supply to be attached to the network.
