Next firmware update in Autumn; TV Issues

Is there a solution to the time delay between channel changes when surfing? There will be a slight delay if customers are scrolling quickly between the channels. This is as the mini guide gathers all the information to display on the screen. We consider the current speed to be optimum for our customers ( what - even for V+ users??!?) , and it’s faster than in the past.

Why doesn't the information display update after a programme starts?
We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to this occassional delay in displaying the information. This is a known system problem and we are looking to fix this within our development lifecycle.

The information box often has no programme information. Can this be resolved?

We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the delay in displaying the information. This is a known problem will be resolved with our next software release due to be completed by the autumn of this year. However in the meantime, by simply closing the more information screen and pressing ‘iââââ‚ ¬šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢ again the screen should have information within it.

The miniguide and TV Guide has no programme information. Can this be resolved?

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the lack of programme information displayed. This is a known software problem that we are looking to fix within our development lifecycle. If you experience this problem in the meantime, it can be resolved by rebooting the Set Top Box via the plug socket on the wall.

Will the information in the TV Guide extend beyond 24-hours in the future?

During the design of the TV service, we have to consider both the amount of information available and equally the time that it takes to load and display the information. Testing/ trials have shown that 24–hour EPG information gives the majority of customers the optimum choice between information and speed of the service.

Why is the text in the information box is cut off mid sentence?

All broadcasters provide their own synopsis information to a listings aggregator who collate the schedules for all channels for Virgin Media. Unfortunately, we don’t have visibility of these schedules prior to broadcast. However, please let us know if certain channels continue to have an incomplete synopsis and we can feed back to the broadcaster. In addition, we are hoping to slightly extend the length of the synopsis to try and alleviate the problem.

It's also pretty out of date. The information in there certainly predates the NTL merger (see the bit on silver STBs); the reply to "can you offer 5.1 sound" indicates that it also predates the launch of the TVDrive.

My guess is that the software download in question was originally intended for Autumn 2006. With the merger and rebranding and so on, that didn't happen, and it's now all been rolled into UK2.

Given that the info on this page is now really quite incorrect when you take the NTL side of things into account (my remote hasn't got a "Home" button), it does show a certain lack of attention on the part of the new Virgin team...

Woo, 1300th post...
