GET OUT OF CONTRACT - telewest

Dear Forum

I am on month 3 of my package with telewest and have not signed the contract as yet although am still recieving package and using product. Can I cancel it if I wish due to not signing anything?

My package is £35 which enivitably ends up more like £45 after tax etc - can I downgrade it if i wish to if no contract has been signed?

hope you can help

thanks

Re: GET OUT OF CONTRACT - telewest

to the forum.

Sadly, you are in a 12 month contract. IIRC under the distance selling regulations, you are allowed to cancel within the first 30 days, but continued acceptance of service is deemed to be acceptance of the terms of the contract. However, I am not a lawyer, so it's entirely possible I am wrong.

I don't *think* there is anything stopping you downgrading though.

Re: GET OUT OF CONTRACT - telewest

If Telewest are increasing their TV prices like NTL are from 1st September, you might be able to use that as a reason for ending the contract early.

Re: GET OUT OF CONTRACT - telewest

if you are on a residential package then the price includes any relevant taxes, so i'm not sure where the £35 / 45 difference comes from

Re: GET OUT OF CONTRACT - telewest

Glitter,

Unless there has been a substantial change to your service or package (pricing may be included here, I'd need to think about it and look at the Ts&Cs!), then as stated above, continued use of the services woula be deemed to be an acceptance of the contract and you would be legally bound for the 12 month period.

Have you thought about just downgrading your package? Might make things a bit more manageable?
