Azureus and NTL

Hello.

I have had NTL Broadband for *check watch* 5 hours now, and I have a problem with Azureus.

It always used to work fine with ADSL, but now I am on NTL it keeps dropping the connection after a short amount of time. When it drops, everything internet-related stops working (browsing, downloading etc.). I then disable the connection in Network Connections, then re-enable it, and it works fine, until it goes again.

I read somewhere about limiting the number of outbound connection. I tried different numbers, but even when set to 1 it still did it. In fact, it did it whilst typing this (Azureus was running in the background).

Can I please get some advice on how to stop it doing this?

Re: Azureus and NTL

What upload are you allowing? You should never max out the upload bandwidth as that will kill your download eventually.

I don't know if this is right but you can open command prompt and type "ping www.bbc.co.uk" or whichever website you want

Re: Azureus and NTL

It happened this morning, but I had no torrents running. I had one download running in the background, and I was checking out some flash movies on weebls-stuff.com, and I lost it exactly the same as when it does it with Azureus.

Re: Azureus and NTL

As I said just up there, it happened today when I had a normal download running.
It also happened when I was just browsing a website. Again, disabling and re-enabling the connection had it working again.

Re: Azureus and NTL

Its purely your connection/area, my modem has never disconnected no matter how hard I hit it.(ntl 250) on 4MB the limit on my upload should be about 40k up but I can upload as high as 60k for a few mins and steady at 47k then it will brust back over again, the Download still maxes out a 475k while this upload is changing. the reason to cap the upload is so you can continue browsing the web at dial up like speeds.

others in the NTL pages have had their connections drop out for no real reason. have a look around the topics
