Red light on Belkin G+ Modem Router - any ideas??
Hi,
I have an odd problem with a Belkin G+ MIMO Modem Wireless Router which I bought last week. The initial set up was smooth and I connected to my Orange broadband account easily.
The problem is that I have a VPN client which my wife needs to connect to for work and for complicated reasons can only be connected through my old alcatel modem (which isn't wireless and doesn't have an output to use with a wireless router). So mid-week I had to switch to using this modem for awhile.
Now I want the wireless modem back on so I shut down the alcatel and put the phone line back into the Belkin -- and it's unable to get an ip address for my internet connection. I can connect to the box with my computer without any problem, and the ADSL light is green, but the light under a globe icon is red (which apparently means that it cannot get an ip address).
I've tried rebooting the belkin and I've tried resetting it to factory settings and re-entering my isp details.
I've tried leaving it be and seeing if it will fix itself.
I've also pressed the reset button on the unit itself.
I've also double checked the connection settings with my isp.
Nothing worked. I still get the red light, the set-up page for the router says 'No internet connection' and the WLAN IP box says 'n/a'.
I've also tried my old Livebox which, despite being a bit on the blink (hence replacing it with the Belkin) connects fine to the internet. So it's not the connection that it is the problem.
Does anybody have any more suggestions? Can anyone think of a reason why this would happen after switching modems and using a vpn?
Any help v. much appreciated!!
