This is the first version, and it's not very stable yet.

This software don't provide any cryptographic keys, so you have to add your own keys.

Problem is there are those out there that would still copy and sell them even if they only cost a quid .

DVD ecryption has been broken for years now (7)... Not exactly killed the DVD format.

The code s\he presented is a standard decryption, coming straight from the "AACS standard (ECC-160,AES-128)" definition. Any programmer could do that in a few hours. But you need a "key" to use the code. S\He did not post the "key" nor s\he explained how to obtain the "key".

The speculation is that "powerDVD" holds the key in the memory for efficient decryption of the movie and that's how muslix64 got his key.

muslix64 will make another announcement on 2 January but already in his/her notes s\he clearly says that

"I will post another version, but honestly I realy want people to bring Backup HDDVD to a higher level without me!"

Just seen there's been an update to this on /. today...
