Please help - billing nightmare!

Hello to y'all.

It's been a while and all that, it would look like a lots happened, but lo and behold NTL have really messed me about and It's with a frown I have to ask for help on here.

Last december I wanted to downgrade my package to save a bit of cash from the £50/month deal I was on to the 3 for £30.

"No problem" said the lovely man on the phone and it was done. However I had been a silly seaneeboy and not noticed I would have been moved to the select pack, not the base pack (as I wanted).

So sheepishly I phoned back and asked if I could get the Base pack as an upgrade. "No problem, you'll just have to pay the difference so you'll be on 3 for £36 instead"

Wonderful! So all was well until my first bill came, and no discount had been applied. when I phoned Iwas told this was because it was my first month and I was paying in advance. My bill would only be £30 next month.

This didn't sound *quite* right, but it sounded like things would work themselves out.

They havn't. This bill has just come and it's for £45.

So I phoned up again, waiting the obligitory half an hour and asked for it to be sorted.

First of all the really unhelpful operator (more fool me for not taking down his details, ah well) said there was no problem as I'd been charged what I asked for. My deal was for the £50/month. I said "That was my old deal, my new deal is one I signed up for about 2 months ago".

"Hang on please..." 5 minutes goes by...

"No, that deal is not available anymore. No 3 for £30 anymore."

"That's as maybe, but I signed up then being promised a good deal that's not happening"

"OK, I'll pass you through to the TV Customer Service Department who can sort this out. You'll have to answer all your security questions again and describe the problem to them too. Thanks for calling TV Customer Service have a GREAT day."

I wonder vaguely if I'm being passed back to the same department.

Five minutes goes by before the line drops dead.

All I want is the discount package I was promised. the £12 I have been overcharged would be nice too.

I know mistakes happen, but I cut my bills for a reason - so I could afford them.

I do accept part blame for this - I should have taken more names and not trusted things to just go through, but it's still not a great situation.

PLEASE can anyone help?!

Well, I managed to get someone who could help and I'm assured I'm getting a refund and the original deal applied... that said, I'll await the actual bill before saying this one's totally wrapped up!

For the 6th month in a row now, NTL have managed to fubar my bill.
