Remote control around the house

Guys, yes I have read all the threads on this, but dont seem to have found a definiative answer.

I have the Pace DI4000N which I think uses both IrDA and RC5. I have set it up with RF out to an amplifier which distributes to 4 other locations in the house. I want be able to return the remote control signals to the STB rather than running up and down the stairs. I have coax and Cat 5 laid to each room so am open to options, but want to stay away from wireless AV sending. Even the Powermid RF and digieye systems looks awful so would prefer wired.

Is there a coaxial extender that allows IR return similar to the Sky's Magic Eye that will work with the 4000N?

I have seen the "Smart Eye"

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...12m2#more_info

and the SLx Remote Extenders

http://www.philexproducts.com/slx_remote_extenders.html

but am unsure if they will work ith my STB, and in particular if they can return through the amplifier or do I need bypasses. Also can you set these up with multiple inputs ie from and "eye" in each of the 4 locations?

Or should I go the more expensive option of the BlueDelta milestone sending the AV over cat 5 with IR return.

Any suggestions really appreciated.
