TV Drive Installation
Hi guys
Due to get TV drive installed on 19-12-06, having existing STB moved upstairs, query is, will enginners want to run cables for the exiting box internally or will they do as I want and take them around the outside of the house and up to the new room externally. Have spoken to CS about this and they say that they will book this as a two man job, but knowing NTL's track record, just wanted to check if anybody else has had similar problem and how it was sorted.
Thanks

Re: TV Drive Installation
I suspect they'll go for whatever is easiest at the time.

Re: TV Drive Installation
Do you have broadband upstairs? When my existing box was moved upstairs a feed was taken from the broadband co-ax located upstairs. I was relieved as I had the same concern as you.

Thanks for that, still a bit worried though as broadband box is located at the front of the house and the STB is going to the rear.

Re: TV Drive Installation
This should be fitted to your satisfaction, you have to sign the techs paperwork to say you are happy with the agreed route of any cabling.
As long as what you are proposing is reasonable then there shouldn't be any major problem

Re: TV Drive Installation
NTL Man came to me in Glasgow today. Great impressions from the off... he put on a pair of poly over-shoes first to keep the floor clean. He new exactly how to install the TV Drive, set it up to work with my TV, then got all my channels working. He even knew my flat had been pre-wired for NTL already and was able to move my existing cable box into the bedroom and connect up a new junction box behind an existing pre cabled blank. So clean and tidy install. Nice man and top service.
Thus far, I've seen the remote caching bug, but that's all. Then again, I've not used it much. I will say that the menu's are lightning fast in comparison to my old Pace 4000 box.
Oh. And BBC HD looks lovely, and once I set-up the HDMI audio-override, I got DD 5.1 from BBC HD via the HDMI to AVAmp route.

Just a shame it turns out the software is a very poor immitation of Tivo wrapped up in a nice bit of hardware. I want a cable box running Tivo but that's not gonna happen unless I move to the USA.

Re: TV Drive Installation
Can I just ask someone who has had it fitted, does the HD box need new wiring brought in from the outside or does it run from the existing wiring (as I know sky need to run new cables from the dish for sky+). Just that since we had NTL fitted had a lot of shelves and stuff put along the walls needing to move all that would be an extreme pain just to fit a second cable.

Re: TV Drive Installation
Just the same cable as the normal box. It's a straight box swap.
