like Creative said, but after the switch off they intend upping the output power and pulling more of the transmitters together to transmit on the same frequences so as to increase the range and coverage at the same time so even if you dont get a very good reception now (have you tryed a high gain external arial, might work) then many more people will by that time.
there are other options of course but the £22-£30 box is the easyest and quick one.
