NTL ADSL2 trials from 2005?
Anyone know what happened. This article sounded quite promising, broadly reasoning that NTL installed twisted pair into consumers homes a while back for the telephone. So now they'd be able to run ADSL2 at high speeds due to the small distance from a DSLAM.

To be honest that will be superseded by the 50 then later 100 meg service. I do know it was trialed on business but i am unsure of the out come.
realy old article, they are cable providers useign there own network i dont see why they wud want / bother to invest, in adsl2+ ? AND the cable is far more futureproof
i recall the reg speculating ntl would use a modified asdl2+ to gain access to more customers without having to dig up the streets again.
eg customers who have ntl coax can have the 50/100meg services but bt customers who can't currently get ntl broadband have their phone line hooked up to the nearest box with some modem to provide broadband. the implied advantage being a green box at the bottom of a bloc of flats ntl hasnt wired up will still be able to provide a lot better service than a bt exchange 2 miles away.
never actually saw any evidence of a trial, just the reg speculation though
