NTL broadband, digital tv and telephone any good?
Hi,
I'm with NTL broadband for £20 a month 2mb line. I recently got a call from ntl saying they could offer me 2mb broadband, digital tv (sky sports) and telephone line rental (+ free weekend local + national calls) for £47 a month. This all sounds pretty good.
So I ring sky and tell them I want to cancel because ntl have made me a decent offer and I begrudge giving any money to Rupert Murdoch. The sky rep claimed NTL have been having lots of customers leaving after 12 months and going back to sky and BT, but refused to tell exact details of why people were leaving on legal grounds. I know NTL customer services are generally dreadful, but my broadband has been working pretty well for the past 2 years.
So my main questions are is their tv and phone service any good? Are the calls priced similarly to BT? Any catches?

I haven't experienced ntl but i have Telewest and the service is excellent!

I have been a customer for 12 years, and apart from a few issues with my broadband a few years ago, I am fairly happy.
Good old Sky CS - we can tell you NTL are rubbish, but can't tell you why - that would be that libel thing, saying things that won't stand up in a court of law :-)

Sales can be cryptic with their calculations, but I think I can see how they've worked it out:

£11 Talk weekends telephone
£17.99 2Mb broadband
£19.50 family pack
£-9.75 half price family pack discount
£17.50 sky sports
£-8.50 ongoing discount
...All of which totals £47.74. However, the half price family pack discount will only be for 6 months, so it will revert to £57.49 afterwards.
Now I could be completely wrong, but I'd hedge my bets I'm pretty much spot on with that - ask the person you spoke to for a break down of the costs before you commit to anything.
