X1800XT Colour loss/change

had my 1800xt for 'bout 6 weeks or so now and no probs untill lastnight. i thought everything was fine untill i went to my game clan's homepage when i noticed (and it wasn't hard to miss) that the grey shades weren't being displayed properly, in fact they were displayed in various shades of what i can only decribe as camoflage green.

thought it may have been a prob with the site, so i tried on here......and again the forum banners were not the dark blue as usual but this greeny colour. i managed to correct it buy reactivating/reseting the ati colour controls in the ccc, but came to use the pc tonight and the same thing happend and so re-corrected it. have the latest 6.9 drivers aswell.

does anybody know what might be causing this? i thought it might be heat, but the ccc gies it a steady temp range from 45-50 and there are two case fans blowing directly over it, the last thing i need at the mo is to have to rma it because i have no back up pci-e card (only 9600xt agp sat in box in corner) to use should there be a major fault with this.

are you sure the mon lead is in correctly? reseat the card. New drivers or an older version could be corrupt drivers use atitool and check for artifacts finally test in another machine and rma if faulty

Re: X1800XT Colour loss/change

I had an FX5950 Ultra a while back, and one day it started showing coloured blocks of corruption all over the place

I RMA'd it back to eBuyer, but the model I had had been discontinued so they gave me a £315 credit note, and I got a new 6800GT instead. Which I think was a fair deal at the time!

Re: X1800XT Colour loss/change

how long should i give the artifact scan zing? just given it a quick 15mins with nothing. done the usual checked the cables and card etc etc, only thing is that i don't have another machine to test it on.

but as i said it's been a fine happy bunny untill lastnight, so why now? surely if it had been the drivers wouldn't it have done this sooner?

could be a corrupt driver can happen at any time with any software. It could just be faulty but you gotta test it first

Re: X1800XT Colour loss/change

right then, uninstalled the 6.8 drivers and installed fresh 6.9 and for the last week it's been fine..........untill just now, got in from work logged on and hey presto the colour has a prob again only this time it's more of a bluey-green, re-activate the ati colour control and it's fine again dunno whats goin on but me thinks a call ocuk in the morning is needed.
