Question Wireless Extenders?

Hi...

My Wireless network is not covering my house. I was looking at a Extender EBAY has One.. But 2x £20 & a Router (as mine is a Wireless one) so £30 extra. Thats £70 for me to surf...

Any other options to extend my Wireless zone?

Cheers

Re: Wireless Extenders?

What equipment are you using at the moment and what is connecting to it?

Re: Wireless Extenders?

Presumably you have tried the simple option of moving your router a little. There could be something nearby blocking the signal or causing a little interference. The higher up you can get the antenae the better the coverage.

I've read in the past that there's some have successfully experimented by enhancing the reception using Pringles tubes

As Paul says, What have you got at the moment...?

You can configure the Linksys WAP54g's as repeaters to most ... but the Linksys WRE43g will only connect to a WAP54g or a WRT54g/s

Most of the netgear stuff is easy enough though......

My NTL C/M is in same room as my PC. I own a Safecom Router (Ebuyer £25) Quickfind code: 52629 ... I have a Laptop with PCMCIA...

My NTL C/M & Router is on the first floor. On one side of house. & I can only use it on that half of house. Cant use it in Dining Room or Kitchen.

Re: Wireless Extenders?

Iirc repeaters tend to be tied to the router, eg if you have a Linksys router you need a Linksys repeater. Safecom/Ebuyer, afaik, don't sell a compatible repeater and if they did it would probably be more than the £30 router!

Just had a look on Broadbandbuyer and they have a selection of replacement antenna which might do the trick: http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop...upID=3&Alt=Yes
