Cable / Terrestrial dual coax. input bar

I recently purchased the device pictured below on eBay. Its function is to allow connection of both a cable and terrestrial coax. so that both signals can be fed to the NTL analogue receiver and eventually to the TV input. Unfortunately, it won't allow the terrestrial signal through, and the person I purchased it from is not exactly helpful, so I was hoping someone in the forum recognised this device and can verify that what it promises is actually possible. Thanks.

Re: Cable / Terrestrial dual coax. input bar

It looks like some sort of bypass. What its supposed to do is take the CATV input and send that straight to the box, take the terrestrial input and add that to the CATV box's output. however if some of the channel frequencies clash then you'll no be able to get it to work.

Let me just check what you have done. you've connected the right hand side of it to the input and output of the box?
Then connected the ntl cable to the bottom left connector and then your tv ariel to the next one up and finally the top right connector to your tv?

If you've done all that and it does not work then you have got a duff one or your CATV box wont support it.

:-)

Re: Cable / Terrestrial dual coax. input bar

I feel like a complete numpty! (Scottish word for "fool"!!!)

I had only connected the device to the input of the cable receiver, and after reading your post it now seems painfully obvious that I need to connect up the other side of the bar to the output. Was a bit rushed the other night when I tried it and wasn't thinking straight (that's my poor excuse!!!).

I'll try this tonight when I get home - many thanks for your help !
