SCART Signal Switching

Hi,

I have a Telwest box but to switch to watch it I have to manually change to the AV1 channel.

I also have a DVD player and PS2 connected to the other scarts on the TV and only the DVD player automatically sends the signal to the TV to change the channel.

I have tried plugging the Telewest box into the scart socket used by the DVD player and it makes no difference. I have also tried the SCART lead from the DVD player and that didn't make any difference either!

Is there a setting in the Telewest box that needs to be enabled????

It's not a major problem, just annoying!

Cheers

Lee

I think you'll find that your DVD and your Telewest TV actually use the same digital channel. If I am watching TV and I play a DVD the signal from the DVD overides the TV picture.

The only way it works is to have the DVD ( and probably your Playstation too!) switched off so that the Telewest TV signal can get to the TV.

Hope this helps.

Re: SCART Signal Switching

Plug the box into the TV as normal.

Switch yout TV to the AV1 channel.

Turn your DVD player on, it will switch to the DVD player yes?

OK, now turn the DVD player off.

If your TV doesn't automatically switch back to your Telewest turn the Telewest box off and then back on (using the remote control) your TV should automatically pick up the signal and switch to the right channel.

Re: SCART Signal Switching

This is all to do with Pin 8 on the scart leads. This pin is used by devices to send a small signal to the tv and switch it to the AV channel the scart lead is plugged in to.

If the cable box is already turned on then it wont send this signal, it will send it when it first turns on or comes out of stand by but not again until it is put into stand by and back out again.

If you turn your DVD player on it will change the channel on the TV over to the correct channel, if you then leave the DVD player turned on and change the channel on the TV it wont change it back to the DVD channel again will it.

So the only way to get it to do what you want is, put cable box into stand by and then turn it back on again, or pick up the the remote contorl and a press 1 button.
