New Email outage?

Tried my email this morning. I can receive just fine, but I am receiving a '452 message rejected' message when I send. (Incredimail).
I have checked with my laptop and Outlook 2003, and it's the same error. I have checked the status page, but there is nothing for my Area (SN4)
Anyone else having problems?

I have tried sending test emails to my NTL account using 1st SMTP server installed on my laptop. The emails are not sent and the error is '550 invalid recipient'.
I can only assume I can receive emails from other sources.

Well it's 1403 and the status page tells me there is a problem with email and AOL. None of the people I want to send email to are on AOL.

I can receive fine, but not send. Frustrating as this is the weekend, and an ideal time to clear my backlog. Any NTL 'people' here who can give us words of encouragement? It seems its only affecting two customers (see above messages!)

Well I'm getting really worried now.

20:30 and still no update on the status. Can ANYONE let me know if I am the only one with problems sending email via NTL, or is this a little more widespread.

Service page just says there is a problem sending email to AOL

Nope - same here - my ntl mail is not working - and Gmail is down too!

Same problem here in Peterborough

I usse outlook express can receive mail fine on all my accounts but
unable to send on any via the smtp.ntlworld.com server.
So I can get mail through the pop3 but nothing through the smtp

NTL support couldnt help

An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Re: test fron ntl', Account: 'Carpman NI', Server: 'smtp.ntlworld.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '452 Message rejected', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 452, Error Number: 0x800CCC6C

Tried everything I know(been using this stuff for about 3years without any major problems)
disabled all my virus and firewall stuff,reset router n times and topbox n times

Any ideas guys?

Could be something subtle at the PC end(ie through updates?) but I am pretty sure the problem is at the NTL end of things?

Any help appreciated

This doesn't bode well. You are receiving the same error message as I am. Support couldn't help? Are you saying that THEY are saying there are no problems?

OK everyone..........got a solution


finally spoke to someone at NTL who admitted the problem lies with the DNS
url translation on the smtp server.

In your mail client for outgoing mail smtp make the change below.

Change the smtp.ntlword.com to 62.253.162.40 (the ip address for the
server) eureka you will be finally be able to send mail.

My problems are further compounded by my topbox now completely failing
with err3 or err5 -NTL are having major problems which are NOT reflected
in the service status.Now using an old analog modem to post this message!

I am pleased that I have finally got an "honest" answer but have no idea when normal service will be resumed...........

yeah if email is that vital to you, probably time to look into getting your own domain with someone a bit more reliable
