Sneakily taking a game back?
I bought World of Warcraft online a few weeks ago, but I've not had time to play it so it's still unopened. Don't really want to pay the fee now either, so is there any chance I could take it to a high street shop and get my money back? Was thinking of trying Game/Dixons but I'm not sure they'll believe my terrible, terrible lies Anyone done this before? I'd rather not Ebay it cos people aren't paying much for it on there...

My advice would be: Play it, you'll love it!

Re: Sneakily taking a game back?
Yeah, a fee to pay it online.... isn't it £8 p/month ? Kinda like you have to pay for Planetside, etc...

Re: Sneakily taking a game back?
Say it was bought as a gift but the recipient (nor you) was not aware that tehre was a charge to play it online.
As the package is unopened then they may take it back, iof they refuse ask to speak to a manager.
Explain the time delay was because you had to travel to the other end of the country for your relations birthday etc...

Re: Sneakily taking a game back?
You would only probally get gift vouchers or a credit note of the current retail value

Re: Sneakily taking a game back?
Did you buy it from game online?
It's just that if you didn't surely you'd have to send it back to where you got it from?
Having said that - if you bought it from game I've had some success taking games back there. But other people have had problems so maybe THAT's determined on a store to store basis.

They normally tell you when you buy world of warcraft that it cannot be returned under any circumstance. They said the same with half life 2. Not quite sure why, but think its because once you have registered it no one else can use it. But its always worth a try!

Re: Sneakily taking a game back?
Some retail outlets will open up the packaging on software that you try to return without a receipt to see if it has their electronic tag inside.
