KOTOR and Radeon 9100 mobile

I've got KOTOR and a HP Pavillion zv5000 with a motability radeon 9000/9100 running Omega 2.6.05a (the latest omega drivers cause a bluescreen!)

I've searched google and other kotor forums without joy, and I know officially the 9100 isn't supported, but has anyone managed to get it done?
I'm fed up with frame rates of about 2fps, it's unplayable.

And why is this the case when Doom 3 and HL2 run beautifully?

KOTR uses opengL which ATI do not implement as well. Also KOTR is notoriously buggy with ATI cards. If you look in latest patch notes there are still issue's with it.

Because laptops arent generally made for gaming, 9100s arent exactly the best cards for games and everything has to fit into a small form factor. The best thing to do is get the latest drivers from HP for the graphics, you're more likely to have success.

Re: KOTOR and Radeon 9100 mobile

some laptops come with MXM Graphics modules that let you remove the module and install a faster one but generally isnt part of small factor laptops and is in desktop replacements or high end laptops.

All I can suggest is try the official catalyst drivers (Both older and newer) not the omega modded ones...

Catalyst won't work with the mobile cards unfortunately

Ahem.. Omega drivers are modded, just use the mod method on the official drivers and try it that way.

Yup tried that, turned round and said my latest drivers were suddenly version 3.8 and didn't make a difference anyway
