Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

Since having my STB changed to a Samsung I have started noticing lip sync problems. Initially on ITV (1st noticed on Parky a couple of weeks back, the one with Naomi Campbell on it). Now I guess I'm looking for it, it seems there all the time. Most other channels seem OK except 121 (CNN/CNBC) which has awful lip sync.

By the way, I'm on Bromley.

Anyone else spotted this, is it my STB or a headend problem?

Re: Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

I get lip sync problems from time to time on my Pace box (Langley) -most recently on this month's guest channel, VH1.

I'd say it's an NTL problem.

I tend to find this happening on BBC News 24.

It could probably be fixed with a reboot, but I can't be bothered.

Re: Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

Looks like this might be a Samsung related problem?
What can be done about it, any fixes?
Can any of the mods here pass this feedback into a techy dept of NTL?

None of us work for NTL, but plenty of people who do work for NTL read this forum, so you can be sure your message will get back to them.

I don't think it's a Samsung problem though, I have come across it on my Pace box often enough.

Re: Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

I get this occasionally on my mix of Pace and Samsung boxes, but only on certain channels, and never the same channel.

It occurred on Sky News most recently on a PACE last week. A simple reboot (power off, wait 1 minute, power on) usually seems to fix it.

Re: Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

Yeah, I used to get the problem on my Pace as well. It's been happening fairly regularly on the Samsung though..

Re: Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

Only occasionally did I notice sync issues with my PACE box. It does seem more frequent with the Samsung, but then I often get sound as surround sound through the hifi, and so put it down to that, since it's almost imperceptible.

More annoying is the picture freezes, which is why they replaced the PACE, but apparently i've got a poor signal cable to the house, being at the end of the run, and apparently, according to the engineers that have visited me, ntl don't want to pay the costs of an upgrade.

Re: Lip Sync Problems with Samsung box

Not sure if there's a solution Roy, have you tried rebooting the box (obviously not while she's watching it otherwise it'll be you that gets the booting )?
