++ Disconnection Help PLEASE ++

can anyone help.....

i called nthell 3 weeks ago to have my phone and t.v disconnected..... my phone has now moved to b.t but my t.v. is still on !!!

i've spoken to ntl on numerous occasions and everyone i speak to says 'your connection says pending, please call back in a week'..... so this week i've called and i've been told the same again.....

on top of this, i've been told that i've been paying a £2.00 handling charge for not paying by direct debit....... funny thing is, i do pay by direct debit..... my bill says at the top 'thanks for paying by direct debit' and at the bottom it says '£2.00 charge for NOT paying by direct debit'..... the guy i've spoken to tonight has credited my account with 20 quid, but i'm sure that's not enough for 18 months service ? (18x2).

all i want is for my t.v to be disconneted, not to be billed for a phone service that has been disconnected and once my t.v is disconnected not to be billed for that either.......

i would appreciate any help or advise anyone can offer......

Re: ++ Disconnection Help PLEASE ++

If you only gave notice to NTL 3 weeks ago then you haven't reached the end of the month's notice period you have to give under your contract.

As Ian says, you are obliged to give one months notice and as long as you have completed the 12 months contractual obligation you agreed upon when taking the services from NTL you should find that the service is terrminated at the end of that notice period. Normally we would suggest that anyone contacting NTL for cancellation of services do it via letter sent recorded delivery but since your being told the account is "pending" it would seem that you are just waiting now for the notice period to complete.

Re: ++ Disconnection Help PLEASE ++

i think my one months notice is about up ! what my problem is tho, is that no one at ntl can tell me when i'm going to be disconnected.....

the chap i spoke to last time also said that on occasions someone can be disconnected but still billed.....he suggested that if this happens, then just to give them a call and 'someone' would sort it out.....

it doesn't fill me with any confidence.....

Re: ++ Disconnection Help PLEASE ++

The 'physical' disconnection of the services are carried out by contractors who disconnect the tv/telco at the street cab & collect the STB.The termination of the services on the system should take place when the month's notice has expired.
