DVD Players
Just thought I would mention the subject of DVD players...
The most versatile one I have seen is the kiss technology DP-450
It plays DVD,VCD, SVCD, MP3, Audio CD, DivX, XVid, Mpeg, etc etc...
and as soon as I have the prerequisite £200 handy I am gonna get one lol

the DP450 is nice, but the one I had to look at (sent it back) wasn't too hot playing back DiVX or XVid encoded discs.
Scan tried blaming the problem on a firmware issue (which it very well could have been) but they couldn't give me a date that the fix would be available.

The fix is out now... a friend of mine's father has one which is how I found out about it..
The DivX issue was when the files were DivX 3.11 and the (then current) firmware only supported 4&5, about a month ago I downloaded the newest firmware which supported 3.11 and fixed some of the Xvid issues.

It wasn't 3.11 files that were the problem though, but v5 DiVX Fast Motion encoded. The issue is only just 2 weeks old since I sent it back.

On the budget front, I can recommend the good looking Naiko N-2081 from Safeways(!) and also the Compacks AB-6820 also from Safeway. These would play a round cardboard cutout if you tried . Obviously they wont play DivX though. Both are better than my old Cyberhome AD-L528.

But then it was the first DVD player on the market to support DIVX AND XVid so you have to realise that there will have been problems at first.
